Durham Mental Health Services was recently honoured with a Civic Award in the Community Group category from the City of Pickering. DMHS CEO Rob Adams was on hand to receive the award.
DMHS has worked to improve timely access to mental health services to people in Pickering by integrating our services with several Pickering-based health and human services. We are proud to be working closely with Pickering-based organizations including:
- Central Pickering Family Health Organization
- Community Care Durham/COPE Mental Health (Pickering)
- Durham Alternative Secondary School (Pickering)
- Welcome Centre (Pickering)
- Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering
- YMCA Employment Service (Pickering)
Rob Adams explains, “Through our Pickering partnerships, we can offer support where individuals go to seek help. This helps reduce the stigma associated with visiting a mental health service provider. Once connected with DMHS, clients are encouraged to consider all useful service options, and then we can help link them to these needed supports.“
“On behalf of the City of Pickering and its Members of Council, I offer my sincerest congratulations to Durham Mental Health Services for a providing a broad array of mental health services both here in Pickering and across Durham Region,” said Mayor Dave Ryan. “Over the past 30 years, Durham Mental Health Services has helped thousands of Durham residents live happier and more productive lives through its assertive outreach efforts.”
