The Central East Regional Peer Support Network, a collaboration among five mental health service organizations including Durham Mental Health Services, CMHA Durham, CMHA, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, CMHA Toronto, and Hong Fook Mental Health Association is pleased to announce the launch of their new Facebook page.
Each member organization provides peer support services, that is, services delivered by individuals who have their own lived experience of mental health and of the mental health system. “One of the things I often hear about peer support services is that it helps people to see that they are not alone,” says Peer Support Network Lead Lisa Scuse. “Our shared experiences connect us and provide a sense of belonging at a time when our mental health has tried so hard to isolate us.”
The new Facebook page will be an opportunity for the Network to celebrate local peer-support-sponsored events and to spread information about their work, about the value of peer support and about how to access peer support services locally. Followers will stay up-to-date with the latest developments within the Central East peer support community, a dynamic, growing and vital sector of the mental health system.
